Technology

At Chesney Dentistry we use the latest, state-of-the-art technology which allows us to be on the cutting edge of dentistry. This allows us to eliminate a significant amount of paper for charts and insurance claims as well as chemicals to process x-rays.

CEREC Omnicam

The Omnicam provides a precise 3D (full-jaw) scan in natural color. With its sleek, light weight design the digital impressions are easy, quick, and more comfortable for our patients. The Omnicam is used instead of the conventional messy impression material to take impressions for crowns and bridges and give a much more accurate and precise crown or bridge. The digital impression is sent to the lab so the crown or bridge is received much sooner than using the conventional impression material.

Digital X-Rays

At Chesney Dentistry we use digital radiography which allows us to take x-rays using significantly less radiation than the older, conventional film x-rays. With digital x-rays the amount of radiation exposure that someone gets is similar to being in the sun for about 10 minutes. Using digital technology, we are able to take an x-ray by using a small sensor that records the image of teeth and sends it directly into our computer. The result is a highly detailed image that can easily be enhanced to better diagnose dental concerns and determine the best treatment for each case. In addition, in the event that a referral to another dental professional is needed, we can easily forward digital records for their immediate review.

Digital Charting

Using the latest digital technology not only allows us to be at the cutting edge of dentistry but is keeping with Chesney Dentistry’s commitment to be Eco Friendly. We utilize digital charting and electronic claims submission which allows us to eliminate a huge amount of paper for charts, insurance claims, as well as the chemicals to process x-rays.

Electronic Imaging

To assist in our patients’ abilities to visualize and understand their dental conditions, at Chesney Dentistry we will frequently use a small digital camera. An intraoral camera is about the size of a pen and it can help to clearly see the condition of teeth and gums. With this advanced technology we can zoom in to see small areas so we can demonstrate cracks, chips, worn metal fillings, or areas of possible disease with precision. The full-color images taken with these cameras are instantly sent to a computer screen so we can clearly see and diagnose potential dental problems much earlier than with more traditional dental technology. This assists us with protecting, restoring and enhancing our patients’ dental health and the natural beauty of our patients’ smiles.

Sterilization

Our office uses a thorough sterilization technique, to go above and beyond, so our tools are exceptionally clean. A two step process is used by running the instruments through an industrial cleaner and then an autoclave.
